Students attending Valley Park Elementary, Wolf Springs Elementary, Wolf Springs Middle or Overland Trail Middle on transfer through the Chinese immersion program may remain at their current school or return to their home attendance school for 2027–28. Only families who want to remain submit the form. 1 2
Documented
Staying at the current school does not preserve Chinese instruction. The FAQ treats school placement separately from instruction and offers no elementary or middle Chinese after 2026–27. 1
- The form names all four affected schools: Valley Park Elementary, Wolf Springs Elementary, Overland Trail Middle and Wolf Springs Middle. 2
- Students who are not on transfer, or who want to return to their home school, do not need to fill out the form. 1
- No express waiver or release language appears on the blank form. That absence does not settle what legal effect, if any, submitting it has. 2

Open questionUnresolved
The blank placement form's only election is to remain at the current school "for the 2027-28 school year." The form and FAQ show no submission deadline and do not address later grades, middle-school feeder placement, siblings, transportation, or appeal rights. These terms should be obtained from the district in writing. 2 1
The questions to ask, and who to ask, are in Take Action, step 5.
Siblings and families with more than one child
A remedy for current students would not automatically include younger siblings who are not yet enrolled. Siblings could end up at different schools or in different programs, even if grandfathering were approved. Sibling eligibility, transfer permission and feeder placement would need to be decided and costed separately. A historical lottery preference is not a proven right to a future seat.
Placement is not instruction
Keeping a school placement keeps a child with their classmates and school community. It does not replace the lost Chinese instruction. A high-school course several years away, offered only if enrollment minimums are met, is not a bridge for the intervening years. 1
Our reading
A point parents have raised
If transfer students stay at their current schools, they still need teachers and classrooms. Any savings estimate should therefore account for students who stay. This is a reason to ask for the district's actual net-savings calculation, not a figure we can compute from public records. 1
Avoid / caution
Keep children's information private
Placement and continuity questions can be asked without naming a child. Do not post other families' children's names, grades or circumstances. If you share your own family's story publicly, it is your decision.
